Patient record — what clinics ask
What is an electronic patient record?
It is the clinic’s single file on a patient: who they are, what they have been diagnosed with, what they have been prescribed, what was done at each visit and what was agreed next. In Medicolize it is also what the invoice, the insurance claim and the recall are generated from, so the clinical and the financial sides never disagree.
Does it work for more than one specialty in the same clinic?
Yes, and that is the normal case. A polyclinic runs one patient record across departments — dermatology, physiotherapy, internal medicine — so a patient seen by two doctors is one patient, not two files.
Can we restrict who reads clinical notes?
Yes. Access is set per role and per record type. A common setup gives reception contact details, appointments and balances, and gives clinical notes and images only to the clinicians.
Can we upload scans and lab results?
Yes, against the visit they belong to, so the result sits next to the consultation that ordered it rather than in a general attachments folder.
Does it handle patients who come back after years?
The record is not archived after a period of inactivity. A patient returning after three years opens with their full history intact.
