An eye clinic is a clinic and a shop. The consultation produces a prescription, the prescription produces a sale, and most software handles one of those but not both.
Prescriptions change, and the previous one is clinically relevant. Each has to be held as a structured record with a date rather than as a printed slip.
Progression is the diagnosis in much of ophthalmology. Comparable records across years are the point.
